The African Diaspora defines people of African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality. Many of them are willing to contribute to the development of the continent regardless of where they find themselves today.
The Diaspora Bookshop and Café is a business based on the principle of a limitless Africa……one that transcends the geographical boundaries of the continent. Owned by 5 dynamic women who have an interest in Sierra Leone in particular and Africa as a whole, our aim is to bring something unique to Sierra Leone that reflects both the continent and its very talented Diaspora. Our business celebrates the multi-faceted nature of Africa and the Africa Diaspora, celebrating its intellectual achievements in the form of literature; its rich and diverse food and providing a forum for people to connect be they in Freetown or elsewhere in the world.

| DBC has come about through a meeting of minds, five women from various backgrounds thought the idea was worth investing in and set about to make it happen. We are based in Freetown, Abidjan, London, Edinburgh, and Washington DC. We are proud of what we’ve achieved today and hope you will be too! We look forward to meeting you online and in person. |
